The specifics of the attack were verified by specialists from PeckShield, a business that focuses on blockchain security. In their statement, the attackers claimed to have taken 6.074 million USDT, 108 thousand USDC, 100.2 million FTN, 430 thousand TFL, 2.5 thousand ETH, and 1.700 DAI, all of which they sent to address 0x040a.
The thieves traded the stolen stablecoins for 5.73 ETH, which they later transferred to BTC using Avalanche Bridge. The withdrawals were progressively sent to TKSitn and TDoNAZHa7, totaling about 12 million USDT and 5.2 million TRX.
The impact of the theft may be large because Alphapo handles payments for several well-known crypto gaming sites, including HypeDrop, Ignition, and Bovada.
In light of the occurrence, HypeDrop has momentarily stopped accepting deposits and making withdrawals for several cryptos. The business responded to users’ complaints by blaming an unnamed third party for the issues. HypeDrop assured its consumers that their money was secure by highlighting the fact that the third party experienced issues with transactions involving BTC, ETH, and TRX.
