Dark Web Drug & Child Porn Dealer Convicted

A jury convicted Sean Shaughnessy, 55, responsible for attempting to own and distribute the drug fentanyl, as well as possessing child pornography in his custody during a four-day trial. The judge’s panel announced a verdict following five hours of discussion.

Sentencing Date Set for Sean Shaughnessy, Darknet Drug Trafficker

Sean Shaughnessy’s judgment has been set for November 17 at 9 a.m.

Drug traffickers who feel that using the Darknet will shield them from punishment are incorrect, according to the U.S. Attorney Leigha Simonton. The U.S. Attorney’s Office will vigorously go after individuals who traffic in fentanyl, a deadly poison that wrecks lives and ruins prospects.

According to the prosecution, Shaughnessy used the Dark Web to sell illicit amounts of fentanyl, carfentanil, pentedrone, and analogues of fentanyl and pentedrone. He would provide the medicines to clients who made cryptocurrency payments.

Former clients gave testimony at the trial about the speedy delivery and high potency of the medications they ordered from Shaughnessy. Additionally, the prosecution emphasized that at least one person in their 20s overdosed and died soon after buying narcotics from Shaughnessy.

During Shaughnessy’s arrest in 2016, police noticed a bag of cocaine sliding out of his pocket, which he attempted to conceal from their view, according to the Department of Justice (DOJ). The defendant was observed with white powder around his nose and was heard stating, “That ain’t mine,” yet the body camera footage of the cops plainly showed the bag of cocaine.
