According to the Australian Federal Police (AFP), a 23-year-old New South Welshman was apprehended for buying many illicit substances on the Dark Web, including MDMA, meth, oxycodone, and heroin. He coordinated the transportation of the narcotics to Western Sydney with a UK-based Dark Web dealer.
ABF Tip-off Leads to Dark Web Drug Bust
The ABF provided important information, and on May 19th, agents from the AFP conducted searches. In the course of their investigation, they came up a kitchen scale, spoons covered in white residue, zip-lock bags, and a fake ID.
Investigators found that the accused utilized encrypted communication services to interact with two people in the UK. It appears that the three were speaking about the transportation and sale of illegal substances in Australia.
ABF confiscated three arriving shipments in May 2023, which sparked an investigation that ultimately led to the suspect’s arrest. About 330 different pills and tablets were taken from the first box by the police.
Based on the police reports, over 100 grams of meth, MDMA, heroin, and other narcotics were found in the other two shipments. Toy cars and kitchenware were cleverly used as drug-dispensing devices.
A possible jail term of roughly 25 years is associated with the 23-year-old’s current allegations of attempting to import a commercial quantity of drugs subject to border controls.
