The ransom demand from the Anonymous Sudan group, responsible for the ongoing attacks on SAS Airlines’ websites, has been raised once again, reaching a staggering $10 million.
Since May 24, hackers have been launching periodic attacks on Scandinavian Airlines, causing disruptions to the SAS website and app at various times throughout the day. The initial demand of $3,500 quickly escalated to $175,000 and then skyrocketed to $3 million. The Anonymous Sudan group has now escalated their ransom demand to $10 million.
Anonymous Sudan has vowed to continue the attacks until their increasingly high ransom is paid, while consistently criticizing SAS for its inadequate customer service.
Despite the ongoing attack, SAS, the flagship airline of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, has not issued any public statements regarding the incident. However, numerous customers have voiced complaints about the unavailability of online check-in and ticket booking services.
Cyber Attacks on Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) by Anonymous Sudan: Recent Shutdown and Previous Compromises
On May 24, Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) fell victim to a cyber attack orchestrated by the Anonymous Sudan group, resulting in the temporary shutdown of the airline’s website and app. Customers quickly reported difficulties accessing the SAS website, while the hackers claimed responsibility for the attack on their Telegram channel.
Previously, SAS experienced a cyber attack on February 15, 2023, during which the company’s website and mobile application were rendered inaccessible and customer data was compromised. Anonymous Sudan claimed responsibility for this attack as well.
