According to Forbes, the Pentagon is looking into a potential “critical compromise” of communications in 17 US air force facilities. According to a search warrant that the media have access to, the same individual may have compromised FBI communications.

According to reports, the 48-year-old engineer had access to radio communications equipment used by the Air Education and Training Command (AETC), one of the air force’s nine main commands (MAJCOM). Forbes claims that the suspect has conducted several tests of the security at air force bases and has extensive knowledge in radio communications and cybersecurity.

What is Known About the Attack

According to observers and coworkers, the offender had financial issues, kept unusual hours, frequently lied, behaved improperly at work, and had air force radio equipment.

Only three months had passed when Jack Teixeira, an Air National Guardsman from Massachusetts, exposed sensitive US military papers on the instant messaging service Discord

The accusations include that Teixeira started uploading pictures of the Top Secret papers with the military-standard TOP SECRET/ SECRET markings stamped on them in his all-male Discord chat channel “Thug Shaker Central” in or around January 2022.

The former 102nd Intelligence Wing Airman First Class was charged with six counts of intentional retention, communication, and improper removal of classified material pertaining to national defense, according to the DoJ. Teixeira may receive up to a $250k fine, ten years in jail, and three years of supervised release on each offense.
