Ransomware Dominates: Cyberattack Trends of 2023 Revealed
Ransomware was used in 68.75% of all cyberattacks in 2023, according to data from Sophos. The average network stay time for other sorts of assaults grew from 11 to 13 days at the same period. This suggests that internet crooks frequently linger and wait for the ideal opportunity.
It’s interesting to note that the majority of ransomware attacks take place on Friday and Saturday, when businesses take longer to respond to an event since it’s more difficult to get in touch with the IT department.
The Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP), which is employed in 95% of hacking occurrences, is one of the most susceptible parts. Sophos highly advises enhancing RDP security since limiting access via RDP may make it much more difficult for criminals.
Sophos suggests routine network data analysis for effective security. Along with real-time threat detection, this will also give important information for prompt incident response.
