The dark web, often known as the darknet, is a hidden section of the internet that cannot be reached by standard search engines. It is part of the deep web, which consists of websites that are not indexed by search engines.

Although the dark web serves legitimate purposes, such as safeguarding the privacy of individuals residing in oppressive environments or enabling secure communication among journalists and activists, it has gained infamy due to its association with unlawful and harmful activities. These activities encompass illicit marketplaces, hacking forums, drug trafficking, weapons trading, and other forms of crime.
