In 2019, Kristy Lynn Felkins, 38, received a five-year jail term for hiring a hitman through the now-defunct Besa Mafia website on the Dark Web to assassinate her ex-husband. In September 2019, correspondence between the site’s administrator and user “KBGMKN” were found, which led law enforcement to discover Felkins’ conspiracy.

Dark Web Murder-for-Hire Plot: A Tale of Deception and Justice

In March 2016, KBGMKN made a Bitcoin deposit of 12 and gave the hitman her ex-husband’s information while also demanding that the murder be made to appear accidental. The admin approved the request, but the hit never materialized. The administrator kept delaying things by requesting more money and offering justifications.

KBGMKN explained her reason by claiming that her ex-husband had mistreated her psychologically, physically, and emotionally and had taken her children from her. She viewed the killing as a means of escaping the horror he placed on her life.

Investigators were able to link the Bitcoin transaction to a LocalBitcoins account with the name “Kristy L Felkins” and the email address “[email protected].” The IP address used to generate the Craigslist advertising and the account were identical.

Felkins was detained in September 2020 and accused of committing murder for hire while using resources provided by interstate commerce. On March 17, 2022, she entered a guilty plea.

Felkins was sentenced to five years in jail and three years of probation on July 20, 2023. This instance highlights the necessity for awareness in preventing such horrible acts by illuminating the murky side of the Internet.
