Operation Blue Wave: Multi-Agency Effort Targets Traffic Violations and Drug Enforcement

According to a news statement from the Indiana State Police, eight agencies in north-central Indiana joined forces for three days to police traffic regulations and stop the flow of illegal drugs. The unexpected patrol’s name was “Operation Blue Wave.”

Between June 20th and June 22nd, police protection made 54 arrests on 174 offenses, many of which included drugs and involved 27 felonies. Officers also made one arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol and put out 60 citations for traffic violations and 215 warning letters.

During Operation Blue Wave, various drugs starting with standard and consumable cannabis and hallucinogenic mushrooms and finishing with MDMA, cocaine, and ketamine were seized.

Andrew Smith, the Indiana State Police Sergeant, stated that “Operation Blue Wave” marks the ninth iteration of the formal kickoff patrol for the summer driving season.

Due to the significant number of traffic on US Route 31, cops were able to focus their efforts on stopping illegal drugs from entering Hoosier towns as the summer heat index rose.

Several law enforcement agencies, such as the Indiana State Police, Miami County Sheriff’s Office, Kokomo Police Department, and others worked together to carry out the operation.
