According to law enforcement officials, a 42-year-old man has been accused of transporting a large quantity of cannabis from Melbourne to Queensland, Australia. The man is alleged to have concealed approximately 136 kg of marijuana inside a Hino Pantech truck and driven it into the state. 

The truck was intercepted and searched by police on the Gold Coast, resulting in the arrest of the driver and the seizure of the illicit drugs. The man now faces drug-related charges and will appear in court at a later date.

The Officials Statement

According to police, they stopped a Hino Pantech truck driven by a 42-year-old man from Mutdapilly in Elanora on Friday around 12:45 pm for a routine search. During the search, the officers found more than 136 kg of marijuana hidden behind a number of potted palm trees in the back of the vehicle. 

The driver was subsequently taken into police custody and charged with possession of dangerous drugs exceeding schedule three, specifically cannabis. The accused was due to appear in court today to face the charges. 

The police did not disclose any further information regarding the origin or intended destination of the drugs, or the identity of the accused. However, the discovery of such a significant quantity of illegal substances indicates the continued efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat drug trafficking across Australia.
