MIRI, 20 June — With the seizure of 768.5kg of various types of narcotics worth an estimated RM47.2 million, the law enforcement agencies have made their greatest drug haul in Sarawak this year.
The Investigation
Authorities conducted a law police operation on June 18 targeting numerous places suspected of participating in drug-related activity. Between 1:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., various places were searched, including an entertainment venue, three locations suspected of being used for drug storage, and an open space within the city.
The spokesman presented details about the substances recovered during the investigation during a news conference held at the Miri police headquarters. The police seized 686.7 kilos of ketamine, 81.8 kilograms of methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), and 1.15 grams of Erimin 5 tablets.
The authorities’ efforts in carrying out such operations indicate their dedication to eliminating drug-related crimes and protecting the community’s safety and well-being. They want to minimize the availability of these substances on the market by interrupting the supply chain and confiscating a large number of narcotics, thus limiting their detrimental impact on society.
