On Friday, April 14th, drugs worth over S$234,000 were confiscated as a consequence of a recent island-wide operation by the CNB. Among the items seized were a bottle of methadone, 209g of Ice, 23g of cannabis, and other illicit substances. 161 alleged drug offenders were taken into custody during the operation, which was conducted from Monday through Friday.

On Monday, three ecstasy pills, two Erimin-5 tablets, roughly 226g of heroin, 18g of ice, various drug-related accessories, and other substances were recovered from a hotel room close to Geylang Road. The two Singaporean males, ages 32 and 36, who were held there were also arrested.

The next day, a 59-year-old man was taken into custody from his hiding place close to Lorong 7 Toa Payoh. The man allegedly refused to obey commands to open the door, forcing CNB officials to physically enter the apartment. In addition to various illicit substances, officers also assorted drug equipment from the hideaway in addition to the approximately 489g of heroin that was found from the Singaporean man.

CNB reported that Hougang and Ang Mo Kio were included in the crackdown. The L Division’s deputy commanding officer referred to drug-taking as “a present danger” to society.

“Our police vow to continue their efforts against drug traffickers and addicts, to ensure that our families and children live in a secure and drug-free environment.”

It’s worth noting that anyone accused of trafficking more than 15g of pure heroin, commonly known as diamorphine, faces the death sentence. All of the individuals who have been detained are still under investigation, according to CNB.
