As reported by Mexican marines working customs duties, a cargo of 7200 packs of a clear liquid allegedly labeled mezcal actually contained liquid meth. A vessel operating under the flag of Liberia was found carrying a big shipment of meth at the dock of Manzanillo on the Pacific coast. The shipment was en route to Australia, in accordance with the sailing paperwork. The officers said the package consisted of about 8.6 tonnes of liquid meth, despite the fact that the total dry weight of the drugs would probably have been somewhat fewer.

The jars were marked “artisanal mezcal,” a spirit made from distilled agave, and had the manufacturer’s name Mezcal Social. This year, Mexican marines have found almost 112 tonnes of meth around the nation. The methamphetamines have previously been tried to enter Australia either in liquid form or by the Mexican criminals that run the world market.

Officials in Hong Kong seized a significant amount of crystal meth that had been trafficked into Australia from Mexico in a cargo of electrical converters in 2022. After a few days, they discovered 1.8 tonnes of liquid meth stored in coconut water-branded containers that had been sent from Mexico. Hong Kong had the biggest amount of meth ever confiscated.
