Officers searched a residence of suspects on Friday as a component of a continuing investigation regarding the distribution and production of narcotics in the Westmeath Region. This investigation yielded an estimated €56,500 in suspected cocaine and €44,000 in cannabis.
Garda detained two male individuals in their twenties. According to the authorities, one of the suspects was released from custody, while the second felon still remains there waiting for his sentence and files to be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The convict’s name is not disclosed to the public yet. However, it’s known that he was already charged to appear before Mullingar District Court on Saturday.

Irish Laws
According to Irish law, drug dealers whose supplies are estimated to be over €13,000 face a sentence of minimum of 10 years in prison. Although, such a rule doesn’t apply if the court is satisfied that there are exceptional circumstances. Similar penalties apply to someone convicted of importing drugs with a value of €13,000 or more.
