Ten people have been accused of participating in a fentanyl and drug trafficking network on Chicago’s South Side as a consequence of a recent multi-year investigation spearheaded by the DEA Chicago Field Division and the Chicago High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area program.

Chicago Gang Drug Bust: Gangster Disciples Targeted

To shut down the drug trafficking enterprise, which was allegedly connected to the Gangster Disciples street gang, undercover drug purchases, covert monitoring, and wiretapped conversations were used. The defendants are charged with utilizing a dedicated telephone to arrange drug transactions while having other people distribute drugs in shifts.

The majority of the suspects have made their initial court appearances after being recently detained. As part of the operation, law officers searched a number of Chicago sites.

Numerous people, including Kevin Ware, were accused. Kevin Ware is suspected of being the organization’s leader and managing its operations, which included controlling drug sales and liaising with dealers. Approximately 44 controlled narcotics purchases from members of this group were reportedly conducted by undercover agents.

Separate charges of selling fentanyl and heroin laced with fentanyl were brought against Michael Pearson and Jamie Pearson. According to reports, Michael Pearson was responsible for setting up drug sales in particular areas.

Reginald Allen is accused of selling fentanyl and heroin that has been contaminated with the drug several times.

The Chicago Police Department, DEA Chicago, HIDTA, and other law enforcement organizations worked together on the operation. The accusations are a part of the OCDETF operation, which aims to break up drug trafficking groups by utilizing a multi-agency strategy.

Note that accusations do not always imply guilt, and that a person is presumed innocent until and until proven guilty in court.
